I awoke with the david bowie song in my head.
I promise I'm getting these pictures taken cf. Computer problems. So, make sure you check out the new pictures on the Thornton web site. Kevin posted some pictures of himself 13 years ago and boy are they funny. There's no security on the members section right now so browse around while you can. You don't have to log it.
It's been good to have my friend ben down here in nashville. It's been 3 years we've been living in separate places now. He just moved down to this land.
Back on the subject of my band. I'm booking this tour for april. I know people a lot of places, but not in chattanooga and birmingham. Anyone know someone/some band in that area that could help me set up a show? Lemme know it you do, 'cause those are important connecting towns between Knoxville and Memphis.

I feel braindead
Most of the time my brain seems like it's in overdrive and just won't stop ticking. Strangely enough this only happens when I have some task to put my hands to. Or when I'm on the toilet. I'm not so good at running my brain when I'm sitting in front of a computer screen or a TV or when my body isn't doing much. Why? I guess when my body gets into a rythm of motion I can put it on auto pilot and not think about it at all, as backwards as it sounds. Lift up into my head and go. But lemme tall you, while I'm on the toilet my imagination runs wild! Boy is it great.
So, I'm putting myself to the task of booking. Send your energy rays this way. Booking for a band is an interesting task. It's like water. At least that's what I think now. I'll let you know if my opinion changes. Alright. Time for bed.

Down Below
Thank the gods that we all survived a night well below freezing. I was working at a warm little cafe in Nashville, TN. I think I got frost-bite on the way home though. My fingers won't work rightsasagahaf? For some reason though this cold didn't seem as harsh as it has before. It's probably because I'm fatter than I was last year. Happy whatever holiday this is to you all. I'm glad I can't send anything in the mail today.

Lemme have a good time.
My friend Kevin (not Thornton) reminded me I hadn't posted in a minute. By the way, go check out his blog 'cause it's interesting. Trust me and just do it. Also go to his knitting blog. I'm serious. Go there and by a scarf from him 'cause they're cool and it'll feed a homeless person. If you need to paypal me money and have me mail it to you that's cool. After you're done, come back and read my blog.
SO, it's been a while. Here's what I've been working on. Count how many times in a day someone says something negative to you. Maybe it about your job, or boss. Maybe it's some gossip about a mutual 'friend'. Maybe it's some complaint about the worlds financial system or something else far beyond your control. Listen to the tone and what you're expected to do. You're supposed to get mad with them and stew over it. Or if it's gossip you're supposed to get all chatty about how bad your friend is. Basicly you're at least expect to validate your fellow humans negative take on something and adopt it as your own. Every time you listen to this trash (and we do this virtually without knowing) you're letting this fellow human inject your mind and your heart with poison. Think about it. Every time you listen to gossip you think lower of someone, you'll behave as if you do too. When you soak up negative comments thrown around about your something or someone, when you add to them and join in fueling these coals of hatred, you're strangling your 'soul' and ruining your life bit by bit. But that's what humans are doing, gladly giving and recieving poison everywhere. It's sick and ugly. Once you realize this, whenever someone tries to give you some of that poison, a little red flag goes up in your brain, and you can say to yourself, "I don't accept this.". Or when someone starts to gossip about someone else you can say, "I'd rather not hear that.". Go ahead! Stop them midsentence before they can unjustly mame someones image anymore! Also, you'll notive in your speech there are a lot of things that you needn't say as well. Does someone else really need to know that bad qualities you THINK you've identified is someone else? Do they need to hear your opinion about how stupid your think your city, state, job, government, etc...is? Maybe they're having a good time. Maybe you should too.
I have some new pictures. I'm having some software issues so I can't format them for this site today. I'll have them up within the week.
In other news, this show just announced! Thornton will be playing at Exit/In in Nashville Feb. 16th with Aireline, and Lovedrug! Thornton goes on AT 9:00 on the dot. BE THERE at 8:45!!! What a fun night this will be.

I love country line dancing!
It's true. Friday night I went with my good friends the Benedict family to Wild Horse Saloon. And I danced. I country line danced my ass off. It was SO MUCH FUN. This was not the kind of fun that you have because something is silly or a joke. It was trully a blast! Now, some of you know this and some of you don't, but I used to be a clogger. Yes, a good 8 years ago I won competitions clogging. I haven't done it in so long it's a faint memory in my mind. So, friday night as I'm out there picking up this line dancing thing to a slower song, my brain was firing up olf neurons and cleaning out the dust. It wasn't really clicking for a minute though. I played some pool and air-hockey and then some folks were dancing this real fast line dance and my brain said, "yeah! That's what I'm talking about!" and I went out on the dance floor and danced my ass off for a minute. I wish I had had my camera there so I could show you. For now you'll have to settle for what I shot this week.

Kevin and I took a walk through vanderbuilt campus right before it got cold. We talked about some stuff. Kevin
had a really insightful thing to say...Let's see if I can remember it. Here's the general idea. Not at all close to verbatim. You need to enjoy the path you're on. The day-to-day activities are what you should get your enjoyment and motivation from. If your only motivation for doing something (say in a career, for instance) is the end goal you'll probably grow old very bitter and unhappy and never find your satisfaction. If you don't enjoy the path, you need to change it right now. This something I've thought about now and then for a while, but I wish you could've been there to hear him put it in words so clearly.
Then I shot this picture.

So, I've been reading this month. for the fist time in my life, really. A strange chain of events revealed to me the joy of it. I'm been trying to do it for a while, but didn't really beleive in it. (I don't think I can explain that any better.) before this month I had read probably 3 books in my life. This month I've read 4 books and I'm loving them.
The emerald tablets of Thoth (atlantean that ended up in egypt in 1900 BC)
Illusions - The adventures of a reluctant Messiah (Meghan Farmer Gave me this book. It's SO awesome and everyone should read it.
The Four Agreements (this is a 'live your life this way' book that's super great and insightful)
The Alchemist (I'm not quite finished with this book, but I'm really enjoying it.)
All of these books in some way are philisophical but easy to swallow. If your brain to grow at a comfortable pace, read these. Does anyone have any book suggestions? Seth, I know I should read the fountainhead, and I will.
Carolyn shot this picture from the floor.
In 2004 at the age of 22, I started to grown chest hair. It's getting to the point where I can't keep up with them. When I only had like four, it was easy to keep them plucked. What a pain in the behind.
This was a cold frosty morning.
I've been working on putting this guitar together for the last year. It's finally finished and boy did it turn out nicely. I still need to track down a Fender decal. I didn't actually physically put the parts together, and just aquired all the individual parts here and there and had the job done by a pro.
Kevin
and I got to play on a radio show along with our friends Lume and Death Comesto Matteson. We covered Christmastime from the Charlie brown movie and Have yourself a merry little christmas. It was a buttload of fun.
There's Jeff from Lume behind us. See him? Through the glass man! Through the glass!
Waiting out in the little lounge area.
The remaining pictures were shot on digital cameras with flash. I wouldn't wanna subject the human eye to this except for the purpose of retaining memories.
More pictures from the radio station:
Peter, Thom, Enoch, Kevin
Noah was hangin' out playing some videogames. The man loves him some video games.
Kevin had hoped there would be something worth eating in the fridge...But no.
This is the crew with which I saw Finding Neverland. Shon (next to me.), His brother, some other people who's names I can't remember. I sure wish that I could.
